🚢🏽 Just Another Story: A Graphic Migration Account by Ernesto Saade

I borrowed this book from the Phoenix public library. I saw this in a book list of graphic novels published in 2024. I was drawn to the story and thought that it would be an interesting story to read about.

I thought that this little bird was so cute that I just had to take a picture of it! :)

I finished reading this book outside in the backyard while a rain storm was on its way to us! It was a dust storm and I thought that was fitting considering that this story takes part in some of the desert. Overall, I thought that this book was an amazing story! I cried in some parts. It is like a real life thriller. It is sad in some parts and makes me think about what latinos have to go through in order to live the American dream. It gave me some perspective.

These panels reminded me of Mr. Twenty! SNIFF SNIFF!! XD

I finished reading this book on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 7:52 p.m. I borrowed this from the Glendale library and finished it in two days. It was a really girly book and I could tell it was meant for juveniles. It was a fun overall read.

πŸŒƒ Middle of the Night by Riley Sager

This is a pick from our “Maybes” book list. I first saw it in Barnes & Noble. I was really attracted to the book cover. I like the mysterious suburban imagery. I think that it will be a thrilling mystery set in New Jersey.

“...and when it comes to people, I’ve found that sometimes memories are best left undisturbed” (48).

“When he had to return it, he checked it out again. Then again. Then multiple times after that until, on the last day of school, Mrs. Charbrier, the school librarian, told him he could keep it.

‘You’ve earned it,’ she said, smiling as she pried the library sticker from the spine and slid the book across the checkout desk. ‘When someone shows a book this much love, they deserve a copy just for them’” (123-124).

I thought that this was so cute!

“‘You can come here anytime you want,’ I tell Henry, figuring I might as well make the excuse I gave Russ for buying it a reality. Then the purchase won’t be a total waste after my strange experiment inevitably fails. ‘Think of it as a quiet place to read. Or hide from your mom’” (294).

I thought that it was cute when Ethan told Henry that he could use his tent. It makes me ship Ethan and Ashley together.

“A waterfall of tears pouring from his broken heart and trickling down his ribs” (347).

I thought that it was clever when Riley Sager wrote in a waterfall metaphor for Billy’s emotions. Considering his untimely demise.

* Overall, I think that this book was well worth it. It had plenty of cliffhangers. Tons of mystery and it made us both cry! It had everything! Another book by this author would be in our TBR list! I really loved the relationship between Ethan and Henry. It was very wholesome and sweet. This book is up there with “The Woman in the Window” and “One Day”.

Kurt Cobain

We went to Luana's Coffee near downtown Phoenix for our book discussion. It was a bookish area and it had the chairs I was talking about. They were musty. Very hipster. We ate and then went somewhere where we could sit and talk.

Cute Libby Image!

I probably got this Ebook for free in an email. I downloaded it onto my phone and have been wanting to read it. I bought the Eaudiobook on Audible for a dollar less with Mom’s Amazon Prime account. It’s a short Chick Lit read, which is my favorite. I really need some Chick Lit in my life. πŸ˜„

My Ebook

“My boyfriend, Charlie, is putting the finishing touches on our coffees. One sugar and cream for him, two teaspoons of Ovaltine and a splash of milk for me. Don’t judge me. It has vitamins” (Chapter 1).

I tried the Ovaltine in coffee. I did not like it at all. I’ll take my Ovaltine in oatmilk instead!

“Then we come to a tall gentleman in jeans and an unbuttoned shirt over a graphic tee” (Chapter 1).

I’ve always loved this outfit.

* This story reminds me of that show that Sam Reid was in called “The Hunting”. That’s what I’m picturing as I read this!

* I liked the book. I didn’t like that they read Twilight. I did like that they read together. That’s what made me want to read this book in the first place. I kind of didn’t like how the author narrated Amanda’s voice. This was a nice, short read to add to my list!
